I have an ice cream maker. A really good one at that. You might remember my previous attempt at making ice-cream which was a moderate success – I say moderate because I thought it was missing something in terms of texture. Again, that was because I used Amul Fresh cream in place of whipping cream. Now, fresh cream contains only 25% fat , and thats not fatty enough at all for ice creams. I used it because its a challenge to find whipping cream at supermarkets in India, with the availability being pretty erratic. I wasn’t very wowed with the results, so I hadn’t made ice-cream after that at all. Then we shifted cities, all hell broke loose, Β all my kitchen supplies were packed in cartons of various shapes and sizes and stocked away in different places, and I got really busy with work.

Fast forward four months, and I went shopping at our local Nilgiri’s supermarket. I was picking up my fortnightly supplies of groceries, when I happened to spot a carton of Amul Whipping Cream. Short of jumping for joy and screaming, I was extremely kicked πŸ˜€ πŸ˜€ I just picked up & put two big cartons of whipping cream into my shopping cart and my mind was already furiously working out what all I could do with it πŸ˜€ Right off the bat, I decided not to go through the hassle of having to unpack my ice-cream maker and tinker with it. As it is, I live in a very humid city and my ice-cream container never freezes enough. Even if it did, all the cold is lost within ten mins of churning before the ice-cream even has a chance to set. It was too much fuss. Also, I remembered this fantastic drool-worthy recipe for Homemade Icecream without an Ice-cream maker by Kevin&Amanda.Β So i got right to it πŸ™‚ I just used saffron and Tutti Fruiti for the flavouring – but you can add whatever toppings that take your fancy! It was just the right amount of sweet, and really tantalisingly creamy. I froze it for 6 hours – and it was at soft-serve/gelato stage which i completely loved !
